Sandra “Sandy” Barnes created Copper Rise Consulting in 1998 with over 20 years in the Human Resources and Organizational Development profession.   Sandy holds a BA in Business from Southern Oregon State College and an MBA from Ellis College/NYIT.  In addition, Sandy holds certifications and/or has received additional training in a variety of related studies including Myers-Briggs Personality Types (MBTI) Administration, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Conflict Resolution, Leadership Development, Team Building practices, Change Management, NLP and labor negotiations.

Sandy’s professional experience has allowed her to manage and observe people in business situations, from plant start-ups through company acquisitions to plant closures.  She has managed all aspects of human resources and organizational development, including the roles of Chief Negotiator in labor negotiations and as the “architect” for a self-managed work force. Her corporate experience includes employment with NIKE, PACCAR, Atlas-Copco of Sweden and BHP of Australia.   She also worked with the construction industry through the Associated General Contractors (AGC). 

Sandy has been a Vice-President of Human Resources, participating in executive teams while never losing contact with hands-on management.   She has both managed the day-to-day employee relations’ aspects and created “best practice” programs in recruiting, compensation and team development.  Sandy’s educational background and work experiences create the unique blend of conceptual thinking and practical skills that she applies to her client’s projects.

Copper Rise Consulting is located in SW Washington State, but works with clients at locations anywhere in the United States. Sandy performs the work; however, she also strategically partners with other consultants on a project-by-project basis.  Since Sandy works with improving organizational effectiveness through the development of people and systems.  Her skills have allowed her to work with a variety of industry including analytical laboratories, manufacturing, steel, construction, non-profit, public agencies, school districts, trucking, governmental agencies, technology, automotive and sporting goods.
